NEW ORLEANS - NEW ORLEANS - A natural gas leak forced the evacuation of about 50 homes in a 7th Ward neighborhood.
The incident happened in the 1500 block of North Miro Street, when a worker on the scene says he was driving a backhoe and hit the unmarked line.
The Red Cross was called to the scene to help the affected residents, saying they would be displaced for an hour to an hour and a half while crews worked to stop the leak.
There were no reports of injuries.
