NEW ORLEANS -- Police are investigating two separate shootings that have left one victim dead and a second victim injured.

Around 2:15 p.m., NOPD Command Desk confirmed that a shooting in eastern in New Orleans turned fatal. 

A male victim was shot in the 8300 block of Curran Boulevard, near the intersection of Crowder Boulevard. The victim was found shot inside a pickup truck. He was shot multiple times and pronounced dead on the scene.

"Witnesses say they observed at dark older model Chevy Tahoe fleeing the area," said a statement from NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson.  Narcotics were found at the scene by police, according to Robertson.

About an hour earlier, a man was shot in the stomach near the intersection of Canal and Rocheblave streets. Officials have not released any information as to the severity of the victim's injuries.
