NEW ORLEANS - Legendary broadcaster Angela Hill, who retired from WWL-TV in April after nearly four decades on the air, will host a daily talk show for WWL Radio, the station announced.
Hill unveiled the plans on air on with Garland Robinette during his radio show Thursday afternoon, explaining that her new show will air weekdays from 1 p.m to 4 p.m. on WWL 870AM & 105.3FM.
“The Open Mind,” as the show will be called, premieres Sept. 30.
Hill retired in April after 38 years at Channel 4 and said she will continue to produce special programs for the station, in addition to her radio duties.
“I am sure people are asking, ‘What happened to retirement?’" Hill said in a statement. "I always said I was looking for the next chapter of my life. This is a natural fit, it’s in the city I love and talking with the people I love."
Hill said her new role in radio is ideal in many ways, including the reunion with many former co-workers, including executive producer Helen Centanni, who was a producer on her “Angela” talk show on Channel 4 and will produce her radio show, and Robinette, with whom she shared the anchor desk and also 9 years of marriage.
