BAYOU L’OURSE, La. — A man who served nearly one-third of a life sentence that was commuted was arrested in Assumption Parish after he allegedly touched a 15-year-old girl in a sexual manner, authorities said.
Gary Jean Foret, 56, of Bayou L’Ourse, is charged with one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile, a felony crime. He was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center; his bond has yet to be set.
According to Sheriff Mike Waguespack, the 15-year-old girl’s father filed a complaint against Foret after she had been assaulted sexually by a man named “Ace.”
An investigation determined that the girl was supposed to spend the night at a friend’s house, but ended up spending the night at Foret’s house.
“The 15-year-old victim was awoken by the suspect who was improperly touching her in a sexual manner,” Waguespack said.
Foret was on parole for a 1975 second-degree murder conviction in Jefferson Parish. He was sentenced to life in prison, but that was commuted to 60 years, of which he served about 20 years before being released, Waguespack said.
