NEW ORLEANS -- The Bureau of Governmental Research is urging the Orleans Parish Sewerage & Water Board to delay its search for a new executive director.
The group is arguing that it makes no sense for the current board, which may not be in place much longer, to hire the new director.
New Orleans residents will vote in October on a charter amendment that calls for the creation of a new board that would include the mayor and eight others.
In response to the BGR report, the Landrieu administration released this statement:
“This board is fully capable of initiating a search process to find the best candidate in the country to fill the executive director position. The mayor would like the board to continue the open and transparent process currently underway. To date, the board has worked to publicly and competitively seek a professional search firm.”
