LAPLACE, La. - Within an hour, two accidents happened on southbound Interstate-55 causing heavy delays Thursday morning.
The first accident, involving an overturned pickup truck, occurred at 5:45 a.m. at mile marker 1.5. It was cleared by 7:40 a.m. but had caused three miles of back up by that time.
A second accident occurred on SB I-55 around 6:30 a.m. near mile marker 5. It caused minimal delays.
An alternate route was found by getting off I-55 at Ruddock and then using Highway 51 to get on I-10 in LaPlace.
