WASHINGTON PARISH – The Mount Hermon Water District issued a boil water advisory for the water district on Saturday.
The French Settlement Water Company issued the advisory after the district experienced low water pressure on Saturday. The company did not say what caused the low water pressure.
A spokesman for the company says the advisory is a precautionary measure until samples can be collected and tested by the Department of Health.
The company says the results of the tests should be known no later than Wednesday afternoon on May 28, 2014. The boil water advisory will be lifted when the test results come in.
Residents are asked to bring water to a rolling boil for one minute to eliminate the risk of contamination caused by the low pressure.
For more information residents can call the French Settlement Water Company office after Memorial Day at 1-800-375-7570.
