HOUMA – Residents in parts of Terrebonne Parish are being advised to boil drinking water because of a break in a water distribution line, which caused a drop in pressure.

The area affected is along Four Point Road in Dulac (Parish Road No. 67), according to a the parish Consolidated Waterworks District 1, sent to media outlets Wednesday morning.  That area is mostly a fishing community, officials said, but the boil water advisory was enacted as a precaution.

Officials said repairs are being made to the line this afternoon and water samples will be taken to test for any contamination.

“Residents within this Boil Water Order area should boil all water intended for consumption for a period of not less than one minute after the water comes to a rolling boil,” officials said.
