NEW ORLEANS – The Chalmette Ferry collided with a barge, causing minor damage to both vessels and knocked the ferry out of operation, according to the Coast Guard.
The ferry and the barge collided around 10 a.m., according to the Coast Guard. Three crew members and two passengers on the ferry complained of minor injuries, though none were taken to the hospital, according to the Coast Guard.
The ferry is out of service as the Coast Guard conducts an investigation into the crash. The crash has not affected river traffic.
