BATON ROUGE – While it wasn't the nearly $600-million Powerball jackpot that had many clamoring across the county, 24 employees of a Baton Rouge realty company cashed in as well on the historic night, winning a $1-million jackpot, according to Louisiana Lottery officials.

Twenty-four works at C.J. Brown Realtors in Baton Rouge missed collecting a share of the $590.5 million jackpot when they matched all five white-ball numbers but didn't have the red Powerball number, Louisiana Lottery officials said.

Beverly LeBlanc, of Baton Rouge, learned the next morning after the drawing. When she checked the numbers from the poll, she realized that the employees had won $1 million.

“It was early in the morning so I looked at the list [of pool members] and thought, ‘Who is up at 6:30 in the morning?’ So I called Kim Miller,” LeBlanc recalled.

Miller described that phone call: “I kept saying, ‘Are you sure? Are you sure?’ And [LeBlanc] kept saying, ‘Well, I’ve checked it 10 or 12 times!'"

A single ticket sold in Florida won the $590-million jackpot, which is the largest in Powerball history.
