Coast Guard medevacs man showing signs of heart attack on cruise

GULF OF MEXICO -- The Coast Guard medevaced a 68-year-old man from a cruise ship early Sunday morning in the Gulf of Mexico.

Officials say the Carnival Elation was about 60 miles south of Southwest Pass when a man started suffering from symptoms associated with a heart attack.

A nurse went on the helicopter with the patient.

The man was taken to the LSU Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
