NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard rescued a man and his dog from the waters of Lake Pontchartrain Tuesday evening, according to a Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer 3rd Class Jonathan Lally.
Tom Wells and his dog had to be rescued by helicopter because his 12-foot flat boat “was unable to keep up with the intake of water,” said Lally. The Coast Guard was notified of the problem by a friend of Wells around 6:12 p.m.
Around 7:20 p.m., a helicopter arrived and lifted Wells and his dog to safety, said Lally.
No injuries were reported.
