NEW ORLEANS -- A boater who went missing after his boat began to sink in Lake Pontchartrain near the South Shore Harbor Marina has died Thursday night.

The U.S. Coast Guard began searching for Clyde Naquim Thursday night. The Coast Guard received a call that Naquim's 30-foot white cabin cruiser was taking on water.

Officials say Naquim over the radar said he was putting on his lifejacket. He never returned to the radio.

The Coast Guard says a Good Samaritan was able to rescue Naquim and bring him to the hospital, where he later died.
