Based on Friday's forecast, but of course some adjustments in temps will still happen:
A cold night tonight! North of the lake could see a moderate to hard freeze so pipes will need to have been wrapped if they haven't yet. You will need to do this for next week, more to come. Tonight north of the lake in mid 20s. Protect Pipes, plants, pets, & people.
South of the lake tonight, including New Orleans metro area in the mid 30s with frost. Because of frost, plants will need to be protected as well as pets & people. PIPES WILL BE OK TONIGHT ON THE SOUTHSHORE!
Next week, some of the coldest air is expected that we've seen in some time. If you are an animal shelter or someone with many animals, take the precautions now on both sides of the lake. Tuesday morning will be the coldest temps, even record cold possible on BOTH sides of lake.
MONDAY MORNING: Windy, so windchills in the teens & 20s. North of the lake lows in mid 20s, protect pipes, plants, pets, & people. Record lows possible north of the lake. South of the lake around 30 with a light freeze, protect plants, pets, & people. No records expected at this time.
TUESDAY MORNING: Lows of 17 degrees possible north of the lake. This would be record cold. Records in Slidell around 20. Hard freeze, so protect pipes, plants, pets, & people. South of the lake record lows possible. Records are 23 at Kenner & 24 Audubon. I'm forecasting today a low of 26. Moderate to hard freeze. PIPES should be protected south of the lake, including New Orleans metro area. Of course also plants, pets, & people.
WEDNESDAY MORNING: Not as cold. North of the lake in mid 20s, near record lows. Still protect pipes, plants, pets, & people. South of the lake around 32 with a light freeze, protect plants, pets, & people. No records expected.
