NEW ORLEANS -- The City Council voted unanimously to prohibit certain felons from receiving contracts with the city.
The ordinance follows a 4 Investigates report that found a pair of city contracts were awarded to convicted felons who pleaded guilty to playing a role in bribery and kickback schemes with public officials.
The new measure prohibits owners of companies convicted of public corruption felonies, such as bribery, theft of public funds and forgery, from being awarded contracts.
