Councilman withdraws from Kenner mayor's race

KENNER, La. – Councilman Louis Congemi says he is withdrawing his name from consideration for Mayor of Kenner as he continues to recover from a bout with pneumonia.
Congemi said he has fully recovered but that there would be a chance of relapse should he launch a heavy campaign schedule.
“There will be other political campaigns in my future,” he said Friday.
Congemi said he thought it was best to make the decision Friday since early voting starts this weekend.
