NEW ORLEANS -- If you're thinking about getting Cox cable, phone or internet, do it now, because if you wait a month it could cost you double.

Cox Communications executives told council members about their plans to double their installation fees on July 26.

The average cost to install new lines will reportedly jump from $30 to $60.

Cox says it's necessary to cover the cost of doing business, citing the escalating price of gas.

The City Council is powerless to block the increase because it's not a rate change.
