LIVINGSTON, La. -- Authorities have arrested a 26-year-old man who got out of his vehicle and punched and seriously injured a flagman directing traffic.
Livingston Parish Sheriff's deputies say the man left the scene of the Tuesday incident, but was arrested Wednesday after being stopped for speeding.
Jason Ard, chief criminal deputy, said Thursday that Jeremy G. Dyess of Denham Springs was booked with second-degree battery, driving with a suspended license and speeding.
Ard tells The Advocate that the incident occurred while the flagman was directing traffic as a piece of equipment was being loaded at a residential job site.
Ard declined to identify the victim.
It wasn't immediately clear if Dyess has an attorney.
