NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- New Orleans is getting a $19.3 million grant to reduce the risk that stormy weather could cause damage and interruptions of service at a water treatment plant.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency grant was announced Thursday in a news release by Sen. Mary Landrieu, Rep. Cedric Richmond and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu.
The plant that will be retro-fitted is the Carrollton plant serving residences and business on the East Bank of the Mississippi River.
