CHALMETTE, La. -- Deputies have recovered the bodies of an elderly married couple in their home Monday.
A sitter found the dead couple when she went to the home at 8:15 a.m.
Sheriff James Pohlmann said the death is unclassified until an autopsy is completed. However, he didn't rule out a murder-suicide.
“This could be a murder-suicide involving the husband, who was 74, and the wife, who was 71," Pohlmann said.
Pohlmann said there doesn't seem to be another person involved in the deaths.
“There are absolutely no indications a third party was involved, including no evidence of a forced entry of the home," he said.
There were no signs of anything being stolen, Pohlmann said.
The sheriff's office refused to say the address of the home.
