NORCO, La. - Officials at the Shell/Motiva refinery said the elevated flaring, seen by eyewitnesses in Norco, is due to an "operational upset," according to the St. Charles Parish website.
The company said no injuries have been reported and air monitoring results indicate no environmental impact.
The company said it is trying to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
