NEW ORLEANS -- An attorney for the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District Board -- also known as the Superdome Commission -- confirms federal authorities served the board with a subpoena for documents.
Larry Roedel, Superdome Commission attorney, said the subpoena does not mention any person by name.
Former Jefferson Parish President Tim Coulon was chairman of the LSED from 2004-2008. He has since resigned from the board.
Coulon is also implicated in the insurance scandal involving former Jefferson Parish Chief Administrative Officer Tim Whitmer.
Documents reveal Coulon and Whitmer may have been secretly sharing commissions on a lucrative insurance contract at West Jefferson Hospital.
Roedel said, "as of December 28th, the Louisiana Stadium & Exposition District (LSED) was asked by the U.S. Attornye’s Office to produce documentation dating back to January 2004 as to the six facilities under its jurisdiction.”
These include: the Superdome; the New Orleans Arena; Zephyr Stadium; the Saints training facility; the Alario Center; and the Tournament Players Club golf facility.
Eyewitness News contacted Tim Coulon's criminal attorney, Brian Jackson, a short while ago. He said neither he nor his client know anything about that subpoena because it was served on the LSED.
Below is the full statement from Roedel:
“As of December 28th, The Louisiana Stadium & Exposition District (LSED) was asked by the U. S. Attorney’s Office to produce documentation dating back to January 2004 as to the 6 facilities under its jurisdiction. These include: the Superdome; the New Orleans Arena; Zephyr Stadium; the Saints Training Facility; the Alario Center; and the Tournament Players Club Golf facility.
"The volume of documents is significant. The effort to assemble the information requested is underway. A significant portion of the information sought is in the custody of other entities who manage the six facilities for the LSED and the State. A small part of the information sought is likely in the custody of other departments of state government. The LSED will certainly make a good faith, cooperative effort to respond to the request for documentation, from its office, from the six facilities and from the other departments of state government.”
