Marrero, La. -- Jefferson parish homicide detectives are investigating a physical altercation between a grandfather and his grandson that left the 52-year-old Marrero man dead Friday evening.
Around 9:27 p.m Friday, deputies responded to a call in the 1000 block of Dimarco Dr. in Marrero. Officers found 52-year-old Kenny Armstrong lying in the street suffering from a head injury.
Police say that according to witnesses Armstrong and his 14-year-old grandson had a verbal argument inside of Armstrong's apartment on Dimarco Dr. The argument continued outside into the street where it then turned physical.
Witnesses reported to police that the victim began swinging at his 14-year-old grandson. The 14-year-old struck his grandfather once, causing him to fall, striking his head on the ground.
Armstrong was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed by the JP Coroner's Office in order to determine the exact cause of death.
No charged have been filed against the 14-year-old at this time. The investigation is on-going, and the Jefferson parish DA's Office will be consulted.
