NEW ORLEANS - An early morning fire trapped two firefighters under some debris before they were able to be rescued and taken to the hospital.
Both firefighters were treated and released with minor injuries.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight in the 2400 block of Gladiolus Street.
According to the NOFD, companies that arrived on the scene found a single-story, wood frame home heavily involved in flames and the fire was moving toward adjacent homes.
While firefighters were walking between homes, a portion of the home that was on fire collapsed, trapping the men under the debris. A rescue team was deployed and the two firefighters were taken to the hospital, treated and released.
The home was unoccupied and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
