NEW ORLEANS -- Attorneys for former New Orleans Mayor New Orleans Ray Nagin have filed a notice of appeal, seeking to overturn his guilty verdict and 10-year sentence.
Nagin filed his appeal with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.
On July 9, the former mayor was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Helen "Ginger" Berrigan. Nagin was found guilty on bribery and corruption charges in February.
According to court papers, the appeal is "including but not limited to the court’s judgment on the jury’s verdict, sentencing, fine, assessment and forfeiture, as well as all other prejudgment interlocutory orders and rulings in this case."
