NEW ORLEANS -- A former New Orleans police officer who has been in jail since April on sexual assault charges pleaded not guilty Tuesday at his arraignment.
Former homicide detective Desmond Pratt is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl.
He's scheduled to return to court Thursday for a hearing on his request to reduce his $500,000 bond.
Pratt's court appearance was delayed multiple times after three judges recused themselves from the case.
Judge Franz Ziblich will oversee the trial after he rejected a recusal motion by the defense.
