RACELAND, La. -- Lafourche Parish deputies have arrested a fugitive who uses brass knuckles in a scuffle with law enforcement.

Herbert Major Jr., 50, was wanted for seven warrants.

Deputies who knew of the warrants spotted Major while he rode his bicycle in the 200 block of Brocato Lane.

The deputies tried to stop Major, but he fled on his bike and got away. Deputies were able to catch up to him on foot, and Major then put on brass knuckles and took a swing at one of the deputies. His punch missed, and the deputy, who suffered minor injuries, was able to put him into custody.

Major had a pipe "commonly used to smoke crack cocaine" on him at the time of his arrest.

He's currently being held in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. He faces charges of resisting an officer with force or violence, resisting an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
