I hereby announce my resignation from my elected office as Parish President of Jefferson Parish effective at 6:00 p.m. on this day, January 8, 2010 in accordance with the letter sent to the Secretary of State affirming my decision.
The ongoing controversial issues that began several months ago, and continue today, requiring my immediate reaction, have rendered me seriously limited in my ability to be effective in my normal duties as Parish President.
It is not fair to the people of Jefferson Parish, the Parish Council, and my administration, and parish employees that issues related to me diminish the normal expectations of the performance of my office, not to mention the distraction from the good, progressive steps that Jefferson Parish government is taking to better serve its citizens and improve their quality of life.
It has been the greatest honor of my life to have served the citizens of Jefferson Parish in my capacities as School Board Member, Mayor, Council Member, Chairman and Parish
President.
My special thanks to all the dedicated Jefferson Parish employees and administrative staff that each day have shared a mission to continually improve our parish infrastructure and level of service to the people.
It has been a pleasure to serve with the hardworking dedicated Parish Council members, the leaders and members of all the different jurisdictional authorities that inter-face with Parish government, and the Mayors, Chiefs and Councils of our outstanding m
municipalities.
Aaron F.
