NEW ORLEANS -- Despite torrential rains, Hogs for the Cause drew 20,000 attendees and raised over $1.1 million. The two-day barbecue competition and music event in City Park raises money to assist families with children being treated for pediatric brain cancer.
“We are deeply grateful for our competitors, attendees and sponsors of this year’s event,” Rene Louapre, Hogs for the Cause Co-Founder, said. “Without their commitment to our cause we would not be able to help the affected families with the everyday expenses that many of us take for grated.”
Hogs for the Cause is made possible by donations from those attending the events, as well as a strong commitment by several sponsors including Camellia Brand, Capital One Bank, Bastianich Viticoltori Friulani, NOLA Brewing Company, WWL-TV, Bayou 95.7 Classic Rock, Cathead Vodka, Thinka, Acoustic Web Design, Bayou Rum, and Irpino Avin Higgins & Hawkins Law Firm.
“The generous support and partnership by our sponsors has been vital in bringing awareness to our event and the battle against childhood cancers,” states Becker Hall, Hogs for the Cause Co-Founder. “Together we are doing something great.”
Hogs for the Cause helps families pay for the expenses that aren’t covered by insurance.
