Marrero, La - Shortly after 11:30 Friday night, Christina Mores, 28, of Marrero, was shot by a JPSO Officer after she struck two officers with her vehicle to avoid being arrested for using narcotics, according to police.
JPSO Officer Christy Clement stopped a vehicle in the 4600 block of the Westbank Expressway in Marrero after she witnessed Mores using narcotics inside of the car shortly after 9 o’clock.
During the traffic stop, Clement reached into the car to arrest Mores, but she knocked the officer to the ground when she opened the car door and began backing up into a parked car nearby.
The officer got up and managed to secure one handcuff on the driver’s wrist. Mores resisted arrest a second time and pulled away striking the officer again with her car.
The suspect fled the scene and after broadcasting the description of the wanted vehicle, JPSO Officer Paul Dupuis stopped Mores at the intersection of Silverlilly Lane and Fourth Street in Marrero.
When the officer started questioning Mores, she drove away striking the officer with her car and knocking him to the ground. Dupuis drew his service weapon and fired two rounds at the suspect, striking her in the arm.
After being shot, Mores drove away. Assisting officers stopped Morse at Fourth Street & Bellina in Marrero. She was placed under arrest and transported to University Hospital for treatment.
Officer Clement was transported to West Jefferson Medical Center where she was treated and released for minor injuries.
Upon her release, Christina Mores will be booked with 2 counts of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer along with multiple traffic offenses. This matter remains under investigation, with the possibility of Mores being charged additionally.
