MARRERO, La. -- A store owner shot a suspect wielding a shotgun during a robbery attempt at a Marrero sandwich shop, according to officials.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of Barataria Boulevard. Robert McClure, 18, was booked in the incident.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Col. John Fortunato said McClure entered the business from the rear door and demanded money from one of the employees.

McClure was allegedly pointing a shotgun at the employee, at which point the store owner fire several shots from a handgun and hit McClure in the arm, Fortunato said.
