METAIRIE, La. -- The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested an Oklahoma man for a hit-and-run, and carjacking that left one man dead in Metairie Thursday.

According to police, David Millsap was arrested late Thursday night in Tunica Mississippi in connection with the hit-and-run fatality and carjacking. He was booked as a fugitive from Jefferson Parish with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and carjacking.

During the hit-and-run, which occurred on Veterans Boulevard and Brockenbraugh Court, the driver of a Lincoln Towncar, 75-year-old Ronal Ehrhardt, was critically injured after being struck by a stolen Honda Accord with a Louisiana license plate.

The vehicle was stolen around 2:30 p.m. Thursday on Metairie Road and Bonnabel Boulevard, police say.

Mr. Ehrhardt was taken to University Hospital where he died of his injuries shortly after 7:00 p.m. Thursday night.
