METAIRIE, La. – Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Officers arrested a 43-year-old man with a long rap sheet on Wednesday morning in connection with the police chase that sent two Metairie schools into lock down a day earlier.
After a brief struggle, officers were able to arrest Anthony Taylor at his Metairie home, JPSO spokesman Col. John Fortunato said.
Taylor was booked with possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, illegal carrying of a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, battery on a police officer along with numerous traffic violations.
Additionally, he had three outstanding attachments to go with prior arrests for simple kidnapping, domestic abuse, battery, possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple burglary of a vehicle, disturbing the peace, fighting and simple assault.
Tuesday morning, officers chased a man in a stolen vehicle to Elise Avenue, where the man ditched the truck in the parking lot of Rudolph Matas Elementary School. The move forced Matas as well as T.H. Harris Middle School to put themselves in lock down.
An investigation led officers to 1208 Lucille Street in Metairie after a witness reported seeing the stolen Toyota Tundra at that address.
At 7 a.m. Wednesday, officers went to the house located at that address and found Taylor there. A brief tussle ensued before Taylor was subdued, Fortunato said.
Taylor confessed to fleeing from officers on Tuesday and having the stolen Tundra, but he denied possession of a gun, Fortunato said.
