NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish jury found a man guilty Thursday of robbing a Burger King and McDonald’s while wearing a woman’s outfit two years ago.
Because of the state’s habitual offender law, Darryl Robinson, 44, faces life in prison for the attempted armed robbery.
In May 2008 while wearing a dress, wig and bra, Robinson robbed the two fast food restaurants on Claiborne Avenue, according to court documents. A security camera of one of the restaurants filmed the robbery, which lead investigators to his arrest.
Cannizzaro said the District Attorney’s Office will file a bill seeking to have Robinson sentenced under the habitual offender statute.
“Apparently this defendant wanted it his way right away, but pursuant to the state’s habitual offender law he is looking at a sentence of 99 years to life,” said District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro.
