BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU students received an alert just after midnight when police said two men engaged in a shootout near the campus early Friday morning.

WAFB-TV reports that the incident occurred on West Roosevelt Street near the Edward Gay apartments.

One man, 23-year-old Adonis Forbes, was shot. It was not known if Forbes was an LSU student.

Baton Rouge police said Forbes and another man fired shots at one another around 12:30 a.m.

A text alert was sent to students warning them of the shooting and advising them to take shelter if they were in the area.
