BATON ROUGE, La. – Due a surge in nationwide sales, Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot climbed to $360 million on Tuesday, making it the third largest Powerball jackpot of all time, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL.)
Before the increase, the advertised jackpot was $350 million, Louisiana Lottery officials said.
The cash value is now $229.2 million.
In Louisiana, Powerball sales for this draw run, which began on March 31, total more than $13 million and are expected to climb ahead of Wednesday’s drawing, according to lottery officials.
Tickets must be purchased by 9 p.m. the night of the drawing.
Four Powerball prizes of at least $1 million have been sold in Louisiana in 2013, lottery officials said.
