SLIDELL, La. – A man wanted for brutally beating a Covington woman and robbing her was arrested after being picked up panhandling at a Baton Rouge Wal-Mart, according to a statement from St. Tammany Sheriff Jack Strain.
Eric Bolton, 38, was wanted for attacking a 66-year-old woman on Nov. 12 in her home, beating her with his fists. He allegedly tied up the woman in her bedroom, before stealing money from her purse, leaving her bound and stealing her vehicle, said Strain.
The victim was eventually able to free herself and call 911, police said.
Bolton “was arrested by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office after security personnel at a Wal-Mart called to complain about a man panhandling on the premises,” said Strain.
Bolton charged with aggravated robbery, second degree battery, false imprisonment and auto theft, police said. Bolton is being held in lieu of $600,000 bond.
