COVINGTON, La. – A Covington man already behind bars has been arrested again after violating a restraining order and calling his girlfriend more than a dozen times from the St. Tammany Parish Jail, said Capt. Jack West, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
Scott Schoenberger, 40, was booked with 11 counts of stalking. He was originally in jail on a home invasion charge.
West said Schoenberger’s ex-girlfriend had a restraining order filed against him because she feared for her life. West said after Schoenberger was served the order while still in jail, he made 11 phone calls from the jail to his ex-girlfriend, violating the state stalking law.
Schoenberger admitted to making the calls, West said, and he now faces an additional 22 years in prison, as each stalking charge carries up to a two-year penalty.
