ST. AMANT, La. (AP) -- Search and rescue teams have found the body of a Baton Rouge man who died Sunday in the Amite River Diversion Canal.
Matthew Green, 28, was found about 2:45 a.m. Monday by search and rescue teams in the Ascension Parish waterway.
According to a companion, Green was on a personal watercraft and the companion was in a boat on the canal when they decided to switch positions with each other about 7 p.m. Sunday. When Green tried to board the boat, authorities say he bumped the boat's throttle. When the boat began to move, Green lost his balance, fell overboard and was hit by the boat.
The Ascension Parish coroner will determine Green's cause of death. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is leading the investigation.
