NEW ORLEANS, La. –  A SWAT roll in the 7th Ward Monday morning in which a man held a family hostage inside of a home ended without incident, according to police.

Police say around 2:00 a.m., they received a call of a man attempting to gain access into a home in the 3000 block of George Nick Connor Drive near Abundance Street, a few blocks from St. Augustine High School.

Police arrived and made contact with the female and learned that she is the ex-girlfriend of the man, later identified as 32-year-old Kevin Alexander, and that 2 children are also inside of the home. The female told police that he could be armed and won't let her or the children out of the home.

Around 6:45 a.m., Alexander surrendered to police. Authorities later reported that no weapons were found in the home.

NOPD says the investigation is ongoing.
