NEW ORLEANS -- Police have identified a person of interest related to one of the first shootings of 2013 in New Orleans.
Around 2 a.m. on Jan. 1, a large fight broke out in the 300 block of Canal Street, according to police. A male victim was shot in the buttocks trying run from the fight, according to police. He suffered a non-life threatening injury in the shooting.
Detectives are searching for Edwin Patterson, 19. According to a statement from the NOPD, "Patterson is being looked at as a person of interest. 8th District detectives would like to speak with Patterson."
According to police, Patterson is 5’11", weighs approximately 150 pounds with shoulder length dreads and a medium complexion.
