MARRERO, La. -- A nurse assistant at a west bank health care facility has been booked with aggravated rape and sexual battery of the infirmed for allegedly sexual assaulting a 78-year-old resident, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Parish.

Kenneth Whidden, 50, of Westwego, was booked on the charges Friday, said Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.

The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. at the Wynhoven Healthcare Center in Marrero. According to the JPSO, a female nurse, while making rounds, saw Whidden with his pants down and lying in the bed of the 78-year-old female resident. The nurse then contacted the sheriff's office.

Under questioning by authorities, Whidden confessed to a JPSO detective.
