ST. JAMES PARISH, La. -- Medical examiners have finished preliminary autopsy results and could not find a cause of death for 12-year-old Talajia Dorsey.
St. James Parish Sheriff Willy Martin says the results were inconclusive because the 12-year-old's body was left in the elements for six days. He said it is uncertain if a cause of death will ever be determined.
Officials found Dorsey near a sugar cane field in Vacherie after a five-day search, just miles from her family's home, where she was reported missing on July 1.
Martin did say that the autopsy showed Talajia was not shot or stabbed to death.
Talaija's mother's fiancé, 42-year-old John Celestine, has been charged with her murder.
