BATON ROUGE, La. - Someone might be $425-million richer after Friday night's Mega Millions Lottery drawing. Those winning numbers - 27, 26, 24, 19, 70 and the megaball is 12.

Lotto officials even increased the fifth largest jackpot in the drawing's history because of a surge in last minute ticket sales.

"Why not take a chance? If you don't take a chance how you gonna know if you're going to win," said Denise Williams.

Tonight the Violet resident joined other lotto winning hopefuls shelling out a dollar, if not more to gamble on Lady Luck. Anyone matching Friday night's six winning numbers gets to choose a cash payout of $228 million.

"Oh God, I'd buy each of my boys a house, a car, help the poor, my church. The neighborhood. I would do so much that's a lot of money," said Williams.

Those sentiments were echoed by Rebecca Cambre who rarely plays. The Covington resident says a family member won once. So on this Friday the 13th she figured she'd give it a go.

"I wouldn't work anymore. I would definitely go on lots of vacations. Make sure my child is taken care of. Take care of my family," said Cambre of her possible win.

This is how the drawing works: for a player to win the Mega Millions grand prize their ticket has to match all six drawn numbers. Lotto officials say 32 percent of the total possible combinations of numbers had already been sold before Friday's drawing.

"I just won a table stakes scratch off. $5 just won $20 on it," said Slidell resident Tim Hoke. His scratch ticket investment quadrupled at the Shell gas station at Causeway and Veterans Boulevard in Metairie. The stroke of luck happening on the same night as the Mega Millions massive drawing.

"I'm going to put it back on my Mega Millions money and come in here tomorrow and collect it all," joked Hoke.

If Carlos Padilla wins he'd share the wealth.

"Help a lot of people out, family and friends and then live the dream after that," said Padilla.

Dreams however big or small. Even when the odds aren't necessarily in your favor. Lotto players had a 1 in 259 million chance of winning Friday night's jackpot.
