Motorcyclist killed in hit and run in Marrero

NEW ORLEANS – A motorcyclist is dead after a hit-and-run accident in Marrero, according to JPSO spokesman Col. John Fortunato.

Billy Bell, 54, was traveling eastbound on Fourth Street when we was struck by a 1995 Chevy pickup truck that was turning south onto Nicholson, Fortunato said. The pickup was seen driving away after the accident.

Fortunato said the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police found the vehicle within minutes in the 700 block of Jung Boulevard in Marrero, Fortunato said, but the car was abandoned.
