NEW ORLEANS -- A body of a man has been found in Mississippi River in the lower part of Algiers, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
A little after 10 a.m. police confirmed that a body had been found in the river the near 10500 Patterson Road.
The man's body was retrieved from the river just before 12 p.m. The death is currently unclassified and the coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and classification, police said.
According to the NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot, a tug boat captain saw a body in the water and called police.
