NEW ORLEANS -- Police have identified a suspect wanted for a French Quarter rape, according to a statement from the New Orleans Police Department.
Leo Earl Dixon, 22, whose last known address is 837 Jourdan Ave., is wanted by police for aggravated rape and simple robbery.
According to police, on June 19, a woman met Dixon, who she didn't know, at a bar at the corner of Bourbon and Conti streets.
According to police, the 21-year old woman said she was at the bar, when the unknown man bought her a drink. Police say the woman said she was ready to leave and the stranger offered to walk with her. She told police, once they entered the 300 block of Decatur Street, the man raped her, stole her money and cell phone and ran away.
Detective Alisha Henderson identified Dixon as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for aggravated rape and simple robbery.
Police have not connected Dixon to a similar sexual assault in the French Quarter eight days earlier than the one he is wanted for by police.
In that case, a woman told police she got separated from her husband on Bourbon Street. She used a stranger's phone to try and contact her husband.
Police say another man approached her and said he knew where her husband was and offered to take her there. Instead, the man reportedly grabbed and assaulted her near Decatur and St. Louis streets. He grabbed her purse and ran off.
Anyone with information on Dixon's location is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
