NEW ORLEANS – Police say five people were shot overnight in two separate incidents in New Orleans East and the Gert Town area, leaving a man and woman dead.
In the latest incident, four people - two women and two men - were shot in the 2800 block of South Roman around 2:40 a.m., according to Officer Garry Flot, a police spokesman.
The woman who died was found lying on the sidewalk, after being shot multiple times. She died on the scene, Flot said. Her name or age were not released.
One of the other men was shot in the head and was listed in critical condition at the hospital, Flot said. The second man was shot in the body, but police did not say where specifically.
The other woman, identifed as a 32-year-old, was shot in the arm.
Detectives believe the victims and suspect were outside a house when an argument began. Police think the gunman pulled a gun and fired shots at all four victims.
Earlier in the night, a 28-year-old man was shot to death in the parking lot of a lounge in the 4300 block of Downman Road, in New Orleans East.
The man was found shortly after 2 a.m., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and lying on the ground. He died later at the hospital.
The man’s name has not been released.
Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111. You could earn a $2,500 reward for an anonymous tip that leads to an arrest and indictment.
