NOPD: Body found in elevator shaft; no foul play suspected

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The New Orleans Police Department says there are no signs of trauma or foul play of a body found in an elevator shaft Thursday.

NOPD's Command Desk confirms a body found was found in an elevator shaft in the 2600 block of South Claiborne Avenue.

An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

The building, which is located at the intersection of 4th Street and Claiborne Avenue, is the former site of Cornerstone Homes, an apartment complex that has been abandoned for some time.
