NEW ORLEANS -- Two NOPD officers were involved in separate traffic accidents while in a chase after a shooting suspect Monday.

It happened near the intersection of S. Claiborne Avenue and Toledano Street at about 4 p.m.

Officers used their in-vehicle computer system to identify a vehicle's license plates as stolen. When they tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver kept going, causing a chase to ensue. There were two separate traffic accidents as a result.

Both officers received minor injuries.

The driver was eventually arrested. He's being questioned about a connection to another, unrelated incident, though the NOPD didn't clarify what that incident was.

Officials said the driver may have discarded a gun during the chase. He hasn't been identified.
